About Us

Fresh Start Writing is owned and operated by me, Adrienne Hovey. I’m a writer, editor, and coach with more than a decade of experience. I earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Mount Holyoke College, where I received awards for excellence in both writing and biology.

I have worked in communications for a large medical school since 2006, writing and editing web content, brochures, print and e-newsletters, and the Alumni Magazine. I was also editor in chief of The APDT Chronicle of the Dog, a trade magazine for dog trainers, for five years. During my tenure the magazine was nominated for a Dog Writers Association of America Maxwell Medallion three times, winning in 2014.  

I have done freelance writing and editing (including web content and blog posts, email newsletters, and nonfiction books) for seven years.

When I’m not trying to make the written world a little bit better, I am an avid podcast listener and tea drinker, and a reluctant jogger. I share my home with a beautiful, naughty dog named Penny.
